I’m an old country girl, back when I was a kid the dogs got table scraps which they supplemented by hunting. I never saw a dog skin the rabbit while catching/killing it. They didn’t skin it before eating it either, just gnawed off peices and swallowed. By the way, they don’t squeal in these instances. If they had time to, they usually just got off one short, surprisingly loud shriek. Often not even that. The dogs seemed to think that the quicker dead, the quicker in the tummy.
