My parents had a cat that was absolutely obsessed with one particular ornament; it was a fabric angel with feathered wings. My mother tried putting it high up on the tree where the cat couldn’t see or reach it, but that just made the consequences of her attempts to reach it frought with greater potential for disaster. I solved the problem by hanging the angel on one of the lowest branches. That meant we had to pick the thing up and put it back on the tree several times a day, but the cat was happy and the tree remained unclimbed. Runar
Cats are one of the reasons we don’t have a tree any more. This Christmas the 2 “grandcats” will be here for 10 days. Add them to the 2 cats that live here, no way a tree would survive.
I just knew Lulu was going to mess with that tree somehow! Cats love to attack things that make the slightest movement. I’ll be surprised if she doesn’t jump on the tree after it has all the “precious ornaments” on it lol!

It was not yet plugged in when the cat bit it.

Our cat could never pass up chords that go to speakers, computers, earphones, etc. But she leaves electric cords alone. I wonder how she knows….?

Our parrot strips the covering off power cables. He’s never been zapped (yet).

None of the cats that I have had ever chewed wires or cords of any kind……they liked ribbons, paper, and licking plastic bags.
