My wife made us chicken out of going for fondue our evening in Zurich in 1998, not having any recommendations (her one tiff with Rick Steves – his Switzerland book didn’t include Zurich – and we didn’t think to ask our concierge). So we had the buffet at the hotel, which that night was featuring chili dishes from around the world. A fondue restaurant in Breckenridge, CO did live up to a colleague’s recommendation for three or four of us when we were there for a regional meeting.

I have always assumed that fondue was a Swiss creation.

No fondue for me. I like my cheese whole.
