Dad, you’re retired (I think). How about helping her? My Dad used to do things like stay at my house all day waiting for repair men/delivery people, etc. to help me when I was working.
Crabbing at Claire will not result in her doing what needs to be done. It will only alienate her, drive a wedge between you. What’s next? Tell her she’s not washing the dishes properly, or eating properly, or …..?Sometimes adult children need to learn things on their own.

That’s one you DON’T want them to learn on their own. Kept a baseball bat by my front door.

I read somewhere 3 different types of locks (all working) is ideal. This was in a magazine in the 90s so I have no idea if it’s legit.
