Hogwash. My dad can’t sing a lick but he always believed in making a joyful (if painful) noise unto the Lord. That just meant those of us around him had to sing louder to drown him out.

Sound like my mom. She doesn’t want anyone to hear her and I told her no one would.

I never heard my dad sing… Not even “Happy Birthday” at a party. He was in his 80s when I found out why:

Back in high school, he was in Glee Club. The teacher stopped the choir in the middle of the first song, and said someone was off key. He had the choir hold their note while he walked from student to student, then stopped in front of my day. “Oh, it’s you! You’re off pitch!”

Dad was so embarrased, he never sang again. Sad.

Two of my kids were together in IL with daughter’s BF visiting from Scotland and called me last night to sing carols (I’m in AZ) We sang for about 1/2 hour and they got so into it they went out to serenade the neighbors ;-P

knew a man; couldn’t carry a tune if you folded it and put it in his pocket, but was so happy in his belief that he sang his heart out every chance he got . love the guy hate his singing

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord–

If you have a good voice, use it to give thanks and praise to God.

If you don’t have a good voice, use it to remind God what he did give you.

Good, but on today’s, Ruthie’s friend Cylene wants to make the manger scene totally sparkly and trendy - too funny for words (and shocking to Ruthie).

    Um– “Joy to The Earth”??

Are we rewriting 300 year old Hymns again?

Ike, each verse begins with a different variant. “Let men their songs employ” isn’t in Verse 1 either.
