We were watching TV and saw an ad for a Chevy for only $38,000. We both looked at each other saying “What?” I was thinking “I remember when cars were advertised at $4500 ‘well equipped’” and he was thinking ""that is dam expensive."

They are selling trucks for $70,000 now.

The Hummer EV Pickup costs over $100,000.

I just don’t know how anyone can afford a car/truck with these ridiculous prices. I’ll drive my 2004 truck until it falls apart.

We’ve never bought a new car, the prices were always to high for our budget and it seemed stupid to spend all our savings on a car. So we always bought second hand cars at a reasonable price. Our current car costs us € 12.000,- and we’ve had it for 6 years now. It’s the highest amount we’ve ever paid for a car. (Cheapest was 800 guilders in 1990; 15 year old Opel Kadett). Hopefully it will last us a couple of years more, for now it still runs quite good with more than 250.000 km on the meter. (It had 70.000 on it when we bought it).
