We gave our old doberguy a soccer ball once. He stood there with it in his mouth, squeezing, then all of a sudden “POP”! He actually popped a soccer ball. Then he carried it around all deflated for years. It was his favorite toy. What a powerful set of jaws our gentle giant had :)
We sail 3 classes of R/C sailboats at a local park. The lake boundries a dog park. Some of our turn “marks” are permanent. We came to sail one day, and saw one of our members walking with one of the marks. It is a 2 lb rubber float with about 20 lbs or so of weight on it. It seems a doberman decided it wanted That instead of his ball. Swam out 20 yards, and managed to pull it loose ( the anchor was a semi-truck brake drum, and in the mud for 2 yrs) and over a very determined period of about 15 minutes, managed to drag it ashore.

I used to see a Jack Russell terrier at the park who chased after and retrieved a soccer ball by butting it with his forehead.

Dogs and football just don’t mix.

It’d be even worse for soccer or basketballs.

The soccer ball would be even worse.

My German Shepherds learned quickly to just deflate the ball. One reason they can’t play with the neighbors’ balls.

Bummer for Louie. I still wouldn’t want to go between him and any potential toys he’s eyeing, though.
Happy Sunday, Crew.
