And so it begins.
Ludwig’s Fifth in the final panel?
I don’t think so. The 5th Symphony starts out in Cm (3 flats) this piece has just 2, making it Gm or Bb. And it’s not the beginning; note the tie from the unknown measure preceding. Anyone know the tune?

And there he goes!!!! The first one!
YES!!! I remember seeing this. Nobody believed me when I said that it was Charlie Brown who introduced Schroeder to the piano.
Schroeder took right to the piano. A character I enjoy through Peanuts.
& so this is how it all started!!
The first appearance of Schroeder’s piano and how he knew about Beethoven and classical music.
And he never graduated to a full size piano.
Love it, a great story line introduced by Charles Schultz.
Yup, it’s my favorite Rachmaninoff prelude. Prokofiev’s recording is my favorite, even though it’s a piano roll.
A child musical genius!
Don’t forget the black keys are only painted on.

Beethoven
Darned if I know! It’s Greek to me…
Interesting that Schroeder starts out with Rach rather than Beethoven, but it was a lovely device to carry throughout the strip’s history.
Truly a child prodigy
well, now we know!
now imagine if Charlie Brown introduced him to drums
Too, Bad he never learned to play like George shearing..I remember walking to first grade whistling his magic…
Kip W, are you aware Rachmaninoff himself cut that piano roll? It was common 100 years ago for the composer to do so.
