I just had to take a look outside and see what our snow situation is here in Minnesota (it IS Shulz’s home state after all)… brown with a few wisps of snow.
But, it IS COLD (all of 1°F above this morning)… :P
Where I live we get a 1 in 4 chance of a white Christmas – the area is considered a desert because of how little precipitation we get. This year, even though we have had a few big snow storms, it has all since melted on the valley floor. There is a movie being filmed here this month, a Christmas themed hallmark type. In the end the poor film company had to resort to hauling in snow to get their shots.
Temps are hovering around the freezing mark here; the beautiful snow of the past Wednesday is likely to remain till next Thursday, turning steadily grayer and slushier as it goes. Most people have shoveled their walks, but crossing the street remains a challenge.
When I was growing up (northern Indiana, 1960s) there was seldom a winter without significant snow on the ground from December through Feb or March. Now, it snows and is gone in a few days. Then maybe repeats a few weeks later. Most of the winter is snowless. BIG change to the climate.
Here it is, two days before the first day of winter (well, two days here, the other side of the world it’s a day away in the northern hemisphere; southern hemisphere, if memory serves, is going into summer) and two days out from the big Noreaster. We got 18" while having watched a video out of NY where they got 40". And last night for the first time all year (and I mean Jan 1, 2020 to today, not this winter season) the temp dipped below 0F. So maybe we’ll have a white Christmas this year. Still time for something to happen. Including more snow. Think when I’m done checking things here I’ll check on weather warnings.
