Some effort went into drawing those “Plinks”. Especially the outlined ones; they look as good as computer generated text.

Poor CB, he’ll never be in the plink of health after this!

Must be bad – in Panel 3, he’s suffering from the same eye disorder Little Orphan Annie had… perhaps she was a carrier?

When I was a kid, kids my age still had marbles, and kids a few years older could play the actual game, but I don’t think “marbles culture” reached my younger siblings at all. When did it die out? Or is it still around outside my circle of acquaintances?

It seems poor old Charlie Brown has lost his marbles.

Like the Cell Block Tango scene from “Chicago”. That started with a dripping faucet.
