There is another very early Peanuts strip where CB and someone else (Shermy?) have a quick conversation of cliches, including both “Don’t take any wooden nickels” and “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do”, ending with CB walking away saying to himself something like “Now that was a real adult conversation!”

At least he didn’t say “look what the cat dragged in!”

They are culturally unifying!
