Linus:I haven't done ANYTHING wrong! Lucy: You have a SLIVER haven't you? That's a MISFORTUNE isn't it? You're being punished with misfortune because you've been BAD! Charlie: Now, wait a minute... Does... Lucy: What do you know about it, Charlie Brown? This is a SIGN! This is a direct sign of punishment! Linus has done something very wrong, and now he has to suffer misfortune! I KNOW ABOUT THESE THINGS! I KNOW THAT A ... Linus: it's out! it just popped right out! Thus endeth the theological lesson for today!

Lucy playing the part of one of Job’s friends. If the sliver hadn’t come out she would have probably told him to repent.

Lucy says more or less the same thing when Snoopy’s house burns down. That misfortune always arises as punishment for sin is however theologically unsupported by the Bible, not just by the Book of Job, but by the Gospels as well (e.g. Luke 13:4-5).
