Peanuts by Charles Schulz for June 23, 1980
Transcript:
Charlie Brown stands on the pitcher's mound. Lucy approaches and says, "Good afternoon . . . My name is Lucy . ."<BR><BR> Lucy continues, "I'm going to be your right-fielder . . . Our special today is a misjudged fly-ball."<BR><BR> Lucy adds, "We also have a nice bobbled ground ball and an excellent late throw to he infield . . ."<BR><BR> Lucy walks away and says, "I'll be back in a moment to take your order."<BR><BR>
I don’t think it was ever established whether Lucy’s fielding errors are intentional.
If they are intentional, then she is adding insult to injury here; but if not, then it’s a rare and unexpected display of self-deprecating humor.
