I was such an overachiever that it nearly killed me. I remember telling a therapist, “I aspire to mediocrity.” I’ve achieved it.Life is good.

Right on, Mr. Brown. As Harry Crews said, “Survival is triumph enough.”

Never bite off more than you can chew.

I think Charlie Brown just wants to be satisfied with life.

When “you can grow up to be anything you want to be” and “dare to dream big” meets the masses of people who in reality don’t want you to accomplish your idealistic goals because it interferes with their idealistic goals, then you understand the wisdom of Charlie Brown’s position. The only way to the top is by destroying everyone else who wants to get there precisely because they want to destroy you in order to get there. That’s not being cynical, that’s being realistic. Charlie Brown simply isn’t comfortable destroying other people.

Strange as that sounds, kid is right. You get nothing when you seek perfection; even if you do find it, it’s so perfect, it becomes dull…

Nobody calls Lucy, Lucy van Pelt because she goes by the name “Her Royal Highness.”

Actually Lucy-fer would be more appropriate.

That’s horrible. It’s funny how he seems happy, and then wants to commit suicide. That’s so random. This comic strip makes no sense.
