Charles Schulz was an admirer of Andrew Wyeth’s paintings. He used to say, despite the success of Peanuts, “I’ll never be Andrew Wyeth.” In the 1990s, he even had Rerun say that about his own drawings. As much as I also admire Andrew Wyeth’s paintings, I would venture that Schulz’s art has touched more people than Wyeth’s. He will never be Charles Schulz.
I wonder if it’s Wyeth’s “Christina’s World”? I remember seeing that painting as a child, and was so sad because I just knew that girl was crippled and couldn’t walk.
