I’m married to a Pig-Pen. He carries at least an acre of topsoil around. It always ends up on my carpet and furniture if I don’t head him off at the door. You can tell everywhere he has been in the house by following the dirt trail. After he washes his hands, the towel is a sad sight. I tell him to use more soap, and he growls at me. I blame his mother for not teaching him right when he was young.
Violet and Patty slowly left the comic. I think they both represented girls who treated Schulz badly in elementary school. When “Peppermint Patty” came along, I knew the other Patty was gone for good. Never did like Violet.
Shermy was OK, but I guess didn’t really fit in, and slowly disappeared. Pig Pen would come and go; never really departed, but I’ll bet some years he only showed up once or twice in the comic.
Trivia question: Whose adult face was the only one we ever saw in the comic — several times?Trick answer: Beethoven

Seems like Pig-Pen says “On the contrary” a lot. Not that he says a lot, anyway.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen pig pen. He didn’t seem to make a lot of appearances.

I think Linus and Lucy’s little brother came later. Rerun is his name.

Remember to treat Pig Pen with a little more respect. The ancient soil on his body might have been trod on by King Solomon, or Alexander the great.
