Maybe someone with a better memory than I can confirm this, but I think this may be the only time we ever see the incinerator that the Van Pelts just happen to have in their back yard.
You didn’t get a hint from when you told Charlie Brown “I can’t talk to Linus these days; he keeps passing out”? Nevermind, I guess you told the “blah roundhead” that DUE TO wanting to burn the blanket.
Many homes had these in a corner of the back yard. Concrete box with an iron door. You were supposed to burn the garbage you could burn in it. Back when you would rake up your leaves and burn them at the curb, too.
I had an incinerator in my backyard growing up in Denver in the 1970s. But it was a relic of an earlier age (50s, I’m guessing). We never used it, and in fact we took it down during a renovation in the mid-80s.

Sock her, Linus! I don’t know about you, but the whole blanket thing makes me anxious. I need a security blanket of my own to help me through it.

At least Lucy isn’t burning any books…

The symbolic blanket would be a piece of appropriately colored and folded paper.

One of my favourite effects in the Peanuts strips is when Linus’ hair stands on end.

I remember the one we had; I still love the smell of burning leaves…in a safe, controlled fire.

We could burn when I was a kid too — but it sure does stink when the whole neighborhood lights up — might as well just go back to smoking.
