    Imagine… cartoon characters having a “panel discussion”…

Unm, no, Chuck. The answer would be an unanimous consent for “NO”

You’re not a bad player, CB. You just have a case of bad luck.

Woodstock was in Nam. He was a chopper pilot. Wonder how long until that series of strips run.

A simple “no” would have sufficed.

GOOD MORNING VIETNAM TO FRANKLIN’S FATHER IN 1968! (Apologies to the late Robin Williams from the “Good Morning Vietnam” movie).

You get an “A” for effort though, Charlie Brown.

So when do we begin the panel discussion? There are four panels today. Should we start with panel one?

Tomorrow – July 31 – is National Franklin Day. He was introduced 47 years ago as the first African-American cartoon character.

The reference to Vietnam seems unusually dark for Peanuts. One thing is to talk about past wars through fading memories and romanticised fictional accounts, like Snoopy’s WWI fantasy. Referring to a current, ongoing war seems very different.

Wow, Vietnam. I vaguely remember reading this strip when I was a little kid. I’m old enough now to have served in Iraq, 08-09.
