    A SASE is always a good idea. When our older daughter was 6, she wrote a Happy Birthday letter to Taylor Swift. At the last moment, I added a SASE. Sure enough, a few months later, she actually got a response!

    Would be so different today. Even if you mail the manuscript in, you should still have a copy saved on disk, jump drive/memory stick, or the cloud.
