Why do I feel like I’m watching The Electric Company ?

When you think about it, this strip is kinda lame.

Sonny begs to differ. (Probably too obscure for most folks.)

The “T” is ‘talking’ to the “‘silent’ E” in “Cute”. Don’t interrupt him, or he will ‘Cut’ you out.

I think you mean “the tao is silent”.

Now, class, can someone list all the words that are in the word ‘listen’?

There is (are) ten (letters) in ‘lisTENings’.

By the way, I think Goat might have he(a)rd the wordy conversation, without ‘a’ (doubt).

Lord kNows, I sometimes wonder about this SITE.

Dunno why the T won’t talk in “Listen.”

If you want to talk to him, you can find him in “tin” or “tinsel” or “list”….

or “lint” or “stile” or “ten,” “nets” or “stein”, “sit” or “set” or no doubt many others just from these six letters.

Outside this group, he’s silent in “glisten”, “fasten”, “moisten”… and “gristle” and “wrestle”…

but not in “wrest” or “grist” … or “distant” or “cistern.”.

English is weird.

Don’t borrow any money from ‘i’ because it’s short!

We just learned that Pig and Goat can read backwards. Good talent to have.

Just rearrange them into “silent”, then the T does not have to be.

This reminds me of some of the early Pearls strips where Pig would make friends with inanimate objects (eg. the Fruit Buddies).

All Letters Matter!

The New York branch of our family can actually make two Ts silent in a word. The best example was “bottle”. Say it with no T sound at all, comes out “bah-ul” or something like that.

I, on the other hand, want to start a movement (no, not a vowel movement) to pronounce all letters in a word. “Doubt” for instance. Pronounce ALL the letters or don’t use the word!

How about the longest word in the English Language – “smiles?” There is a mile between each “s.”

Just like the P in swimming.

Well, I like it. I laughed out loud. I tutor in a local One-to-One Adult Literary program and I think my learners would also like it.

Last week, “L” was sick. He sounded like “W”. The ailment was called Elmer Fudd Disease.

Those who say this strip is lame, imho, are so wrong. The strip is clever, and the comments are chuckle worthy.
