I don’t care what format you use, so long as you use something and we get to enjoy it! Do it, but don’t overdo it. Your public depends on you.

Last two panels were excellent. 9th panel, not sure what’s going on there. 6th and 7th, very good. Welcome back and please stay with us for a long time. :o)

I like the construction lines, and welcome back! Blackwings were and are overpriced and overrated. A General Draughting Pencil (G314) is cheaper, has a stronger lead, and erases better. I animated with them at Disney’s and use them for rough sketches, now.

I find I work much faster when I draw on paper, then scan the drawings into the digital program. Ann Telnaes and Steve Brodner also work this way.

For the red sketch lines, I think… screw dat. It doesn’t matter what I think. I don’t second guess professionals, be they doctors, architects, or cartoonists.

If you don’t mind my two cents ….. I think you should ease back in more slowly for better healing. The longer format is nice, but maybe not for your bod. Maybe draw Petunia & Dre for a bit like Haiku Ewe.

You need to use whatever tools of the trade and format that you enjoy. I see you experimenting and having fun. The end product is always you, and that is always great. I’m so happy you are on the mend.

I love how the construction lines go from barely noticeable to glaringly obvious as you progress from feeling great through growing discomfort until it can no longer be ignored. That being said, please don’t push yourself too hard.

Baby steps, baby steps…Welcome back, Big Al! I do love the longer format, as long as it’s not too much for you. As commented above, please don’t overdo it.

It’s great to see you back again. Thanks for letting us in on your work. Do it the way you like to do it. It’s not worth doing if it becomes a drudgery.

absolutely love the longer format and the ‘hint of red’ adds an excellent panache… and i would think drawing using the blackwing on paper give you a more satisfying textile feeling… a rare pleasure you absolutely deserve… k

I think that seeing you happy was worth the wait. As long as you aren’t in pain from working. I like the bold borders. ✍️(◔◡◔)

You’re onto something. I’ve always enjoyed drawing on paper over wacom. I do my roughs, ink on photocopy paper, and then use the light box to trace, and clean up the drawing, no need for blue or red pencil. Then scan into the computer for final cleanup and coloring. You could skip the light box and scan the rough to do your cleanup and with different filters may be able to get rid of the pencil line if you wish. But nothing wrong with showing I’ll the process is accomplished, there’s something organic about it.

Great to see you back! The only thing I’m worried about is you drawing on the coffee table in that position. Used to do something like that and my neck, shoulders and arm would be in agony. If you haven’t already, get yourself a drafting table with easy tilt/height adjustment and a good chair (don’t cheap out; I did and it wasn’t pretty) that gives your lower back good support so you’re pretty much upright when you draw. Now I can spend hours drawing without my body punishing me for it.

Welcome back! You could be drawing with a fork in mashed potatoes and it would still look great. You’re that talented. With that said, use the tools that feel good to you!
