Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for September 20, 2016
Transcript:
Marigold: Phoebe! Are you done with your history report, yet? Phoebe: I'm not! We can hang out later. But this is important to me. I need to do well to get a good grade this quarter! Marigold: Wait. So there are things that matter to you more than unicorns? Phoebe: Apples and oranges. Marigold: I refuse to compete with fruit.
If Phoebe had said “Apples and pomegranates” (they are associated with immortality and unicorns), Marigold might have understood—or at least felt less hurt. :-)
