I made the mistake of using organic potting soil on an indoor plant. Result was an invasion of fungus gnats that dearly love carbon dioxide, and the durn junkies kept flying up my nose.

Earl must think he’s a Cichlid Mouth Brooder..

Out in Arizona they call cedar gnats No See’ums for good reason. They are nasty. We didn’t have mosquitoes but we had swarms of No See’ums. Since they purportedly swarm to the highest point, you’d see people walking down the street, an arm extended above their head, wildly swatting to keep the bugs away from their face. This was known as the Arizona wave.

I thought Earl’s moustache would strain out the gnats !!

That happened to me one when I was biking. NEVER bike with your mouth open at night.

Or to be on a motorcycle. One time I was riding through El Paso and when through a swarm of bees. Luckily, I didn’t get stung

Roscoe’s tail is hilarious in panel 4. We call them gnat storms because they’re like an annoying storm cloud.

Roscoe looks pretty amused…

Sometimes it’s best to stay indoors.

Gnats and their ilk go where carbon dioxide emanates. Deerflies, horseflies and other “flying teeth” zero in “just because you’re there”..

This could drive one buggy.
