I lost a lens from my reading glasses in a Goodwill thrift store once. I heard a strange sound as I was walking down the aisle, didn’t know what it was until I got home and put on my “one-lens” glasses, DING went my memory, back to the store went me, I found it unscathed under a rack of gaudy t-shirts. (the end)
I one knew a woman, who many years ago lost a contact on the campus of Temple U. She searched the grass and sidewalk for over 30 minutes and gave up. The next day while walking the same rout, she glanced down and saw the lens.
My wife lost the diamond out of her ring. I asked her to recall everything she had done the previous day and I began retracing all her actions. After about 3 hours I found the diamond in a stack of bath towels. Talk about a save!
As a card-carrying schlemiel, I can identify with Earl. My manifestation of this phenomena is when I’m working on a home project, say: plumbing, and I need a certain kind of wrench. I know I have one of these wrenches, but after searching in vain for it, I finally give up, drive to Home Depot for a new one, return to finish the project – then look for a special place to hang it on the pegboard in the garage – and find the other one. (sigh)

Lenses are not made of glass. How old are your spectacles, Earl?

I could see my way clear to agree with Earl. It’s time someone put their foot down about loose lens.

Geez, Earl, do you mean to tell me you’ve only got one pair of glasses? I’ve got one for every room in the house. . .and I still can never find them!

Well, one answer was not to take his glasses off so that he couldn’t see out of both eyes vice just not seeing out of one.
