It took me 5 minutes to explain what a black coffee was at the local doughnut shop. Then an employee about my own age came over and got it for me. Her only question was “what size did I want?”
Nowadays it is still rare for teenagers like me to order black coffee… Unless this comes as a set meal, whereby I drive myself insane by adding milk and LOADS of sugar into it…
Coffee done right can actually help keep one’s weight up during chemo. As in those cold blended ones done as mochas. And even some pluggers have to go thru chemo.
Give me just a plain cup of coffee, please. The closest I hope to come to “fancy” coffee would be using vanilla creamer…and I like mine the “Garfield” way….strong enough to walk away from the cup.
I tried coffee 50+ years ago. I didn’t like it. Someone suggested I try it with cream and sugar, I figured if it needed that much help, it wasn’t worth drinking anyway. So be it!
I like regular coffee, and I like the flavored coffees. For me, “black” is the only way to drink any of them. The one flavored coffee I find that is strangely intriguing and odd is “blueberry” that they occasionally have at my local 7-11. I cannot imagine someone purposefully thinking of “blueberry” as a flavor for coffee, but it is pretty good.

Having never developed a taste for coffee, I am able to ignore Starbucks, and be amused by those who spend their bucks on such nonsense.
