funny, there’s plenty of news out there, but the 3 local network affiliated stations all run the same three or four “big stories”. takes less labor, i guess, to just report on what is doled out by the media machine, than to do just a little local digging on their own. and those “trending now” segments; how lazy are they that resorting to trolling the media for a story halfway across the country that just happens to be getting hits is their idea of local news content? we’ve started turning on the local college radio stations during the news for some music that can drown out the mindless drivel they spew……makes it a lot more bearable
The San Diego TV stations generally start their news programs with “breaking news”, whether it’s a fire or a child that just had an operation for a cleft palate (common in San Diego as SD drs. operate a lot on babies from Tijuana).
We have ‘breaking news here too. Same story – same breaking news graphic at noon, 5pm, 5:30pm, 6pm and 11pm. I don’t hear the early morning news – it may have started there.
That’s called local news. Most people if they follow any news at all it is local news. Which is shy so many don’t know what is going on in the rest of their country and definitely no the world.

IN the previous county I lived in, the house was high on y hillside neighborhood… far from the river where there would be potential citywide flooding.

When I see the Breaking News Now! I do my imitation of Jimmy Cagney from Mr. Roberts. All right. Who did it? Who did it? Who broke the news?
