Bobo: As the hairballs blotted out the sky, the dogs dug deep, deep into their core…
Bobo: … and retaliated.
Bobo: They had harnessed the power… of the bark.
Bobo: And the neighborhoods of earth would never be the same.
So…the dogs harnessed the power of the bark….and the cats invoked the power of the haughty stare and the raised tail. Now lets hear the cats’ side of things.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, released 11/11/11, is all about the protagonist harnessing the power of The Voice, the “Thuum” or the dragon shout. The idea in this strip, to “harness the power of the Bark” to fight evil, predates that.

So they barked….didn’t do any good ’cos we still have cats.

Apparently, barking made hairballs explode back in those dark times. I assume the cats have evolved some bark-resistant hairball varieties since then.

Hah! I was right! I guess this works if the goal was to be even more annoying than the hairballs.
