Pooch Cafe by Paul Gilligan for June 16, 2015
Transcript:
Squirrel: Why are you such a big bully? Poncho: I'm not a bully. I'm just being a dog! Which is not all sunshine and roses, y'know! Squirrel: Oh, you think it's easy trying to find nuts and getting chased all the time? Poncho: You food is lying all over the ground! Living on Easy Street is what I call it! You should try begging for food! Squirrel: I wish you could walk a mile in my shoes! Poncho: I wish you could walk a mile in my shoes! Squirrel: Whoops!

Aww. How nice. A meeting of the minds.

So is this the start of one of those Twilight zone type arcs where the squirrel and the dog switch minds?
Nah…

Yeah, I think we know where this is going…

Uh-oh, are we about to have “Freaky Friday”-esque storyline in “Pooch Cafe”?

Yeah, I don’t think it could be much more obvious what’s coming….

Around our house, the squirrels come up and steal the bird seed, the cat’s food, and the dog’s food. Apparently there isn’t much natural squirrel food out in the woods… or that’s what they would have us believe.

Is this like some bad transporter accident.
I smell the beginnings of a longer serialized strip – awesome, we haven’t had one in awhile.

Oh no…

Considering the fact that neither one of them wear shoes this could be really boring.

Poncho would walk funny in squirrel shoes!!!

Yeah, I lived in the Rocky Mountains for 30 years and we were always seeing stories on the news about pi….ed off bears ripping campgrounds and vehicles apart.

I used to have neighbors who had a small camper they kept in a campground. It was too little to keep the refrigerator inside, and it sat out on the cement pad. They had to keep a bungee cord around it because the raccoons could get into it and would steal their food.

@JAXXXON, Juice-Bruce, Plods with Beer, WDemBlk, SallyLin, Perkycat, Dennis in Seattle, Happy 3, iammu, John Hra, mabrndt, SheMc, and Just So So: Thank you for your prayers and best wishes. The surgery went well. I have a patch over my eye so I can’t wear my glasses. Please, ignore any typos. There is some pain in the eye so I took a pain pill earlier. The doctor will remove the patch tomorrow. It will take several months for my vision to become normal. Be well, my friends.

You may have seen this kind of thing before (Twilight Zone, Freaky Friday… pick your favorite parallel), but that doesn’t mean that matters can’t take unexpected and unpredictable turns. Since this is the Poncho Zone, they probably will.

Glad to hear from you and that surgery went well.

This is a cliche anime/manga thing – two characters bonk heads or fall down the stairs together (and bonk heads). Voila, body switch. It’s perfectly logical and scientific.

@JP Steve, Finny Girl and daleandkristen: thank you my friends. I’m going to take another pain pill shortly and head to bed. Have a peaceful night.
Starman1948 over 9 years ago
@Perkycat: thank you. I will be spending a goodly portion of each day listening to Old Time Radio programs instead of reading and watching tv. I thought I’d get to bed earlier, but haven’t made it yet. The pain pill is still working so I will head to bed. Have a peaceful night my friend.

This will be interesting…. How will the squirrel get along with the Mailman? Will Chazz notice anything different?
