My German Shepherd walks slower and slower when he knows our walk is ending soon. But if he sees birds, he starts bouncing along and barking at them. Same if he sees a dog. I tell him he is a faker.
Daughter and I try to walk at least 1 mile every day. If the weather is too cold or snowing or . . ., we walk inside. The inside may be a huge hardware , a mall, the biggest grocery in town, preferably somewhere that has shopping carts. Otherwise we’d have to drag my ‘stroller’ out of the car. By the time we’ve been up and down every aisle more than once and seen it all we feel like we’ve done our duty for the day.
Two hours walking with a poor dog on leash is a bit much…. maybe some of that time could be spent off leash in a dog park….. more fun for the dog and less boring for the walker. Socialization is good for everybody!
Friend and I took her very rambunctious dog for a walk in my neighborhood Sunday afternoon. After about two miles, he didn’t want to go one step farther. He was so glad to get in the car and go home. I could have walked another mile.
My pup, Mr. Duke passed last week at the age of twelve. We walked three miles in the morning and three miles in the evening, rain, pain, freezing and hurricanes. It didn’t matter. Over 18,800 miles of road work and 16, 800 hours. He is dearly missed.

I sympathize with Chas. I used to walk my dogs at least a mile every morning. Now I worry about adopting a dog that needs that much exercise.

Dog walking is a good form of exercise.

I’m alway more willing to take longer walks when it’s nice out. Winter walks are pretty short. Rainy day walks are even shorter.

Poncho knows the buttons to push. It’s up to Chaz to hit the brake pedal.

Just like Marmaduke, why do they walk him when he’s free to roam the rest of the time?

Chaz, you used to say that Poncho needed to lose weight. Did you agree with him that he’d look too weird when thin?

Hey Chas, be thankful Poncho isn’t an untrained beagle
