I usually take one of two actions in this circumstance: 1) if it’s just chitchat, I let her go on while I’m working (but I’m still listening); 2) if it’s something more specific, I say, “Let me finish what I’m doing, then you’ll have my undivided attention on this,” and when I’m done, I seek her out & let her know. This works out great with both daughters.
