Nickname story: When I was in 3rd grade there were 3 Karens in my class. The teacher asked if 2 of us could go by nicknames to make things easier. One chose to go by Kay and I chose to go by Kitty (a family nickname for me). By the time I was in 6th grade most kids stopped calling me Kitty, but most of the teachers still did. One day, in gym, the teacher heard someone call “Karen” and I responded. The teacher stopped me: “Karen? Your name is KAREN?” I nodded. She said, “I thought your name was Kitty!”
