Teena if you had my grandma’s yams you would not complain. I concur about the peas with pearl onions. But you can skip them.

I thought she was just going to say “Grace”.

I love how she gets two “AMEN’s”.

Even though I like yams and peas.

When we had to go through that rigmarole at school we would be muttering “for what we are about to receive, the pigs have just refused”. Quite unfair really because the food wasn’t bad considering how many they had to cook for.

Thanxgiving is all about left overs! Love the size of the Turkey!

sounds like mutiny to me….

Turkey is fowl.

If Momma ain’t happy, ain’t NO ONE happy!

My grandpa used to say grace: Good food, good meat, Good God, Let’s Eat! Use to piss grandma off no end which is, of course, why he did it.

It took me decades to get over my yam-phobia. They’re not bad but they’re not my go-to veg either.

Teena’s prayer reminds me of a story:

There was a family whose tradition was to have their young daughter lead everyone in saying grace before dinner. The little girl would fold her hands and recite,

"God is great,

God is good.

Let us thank Him

for our food."

One evening, after a full-scheduled, hectic day, the family hurriedly sat down to a late dinner. As the meal was nearing its end, the mother realised they had forgot to say grace. The little girl thought for a moment, then folded her hands, and proceeded with,

"God is good,

God is great.

We thank Him for

the food we ate."

What’s wrong with pearl onions? They taste great in peas and in Gibsons.

But I just love peas with pearl onions and yams.

Yeah, the onions ruin the taste.

I’ll eat your share of peas. Pearl onions do not get eaten by me though and it depends on how the yams were prepared. Most of all though, be thankful that your family can afford such a bounty, many can’t.
