The GOP was once my last slimmest hope for defending capitalism in America. Weak as that hope was, it sustained me for decades. But since the GOP became the party of Trump, I fear for America regardless of what party is in power.
“Don’t they already have a candidate?” “Yes, but I’m afraid to even mention his name or utter any but the most tepid criticisms of him. Hey, want to hear some more about how arrogant Hillary Clinton is?”
The Republican Party no longer exists. It is now the party of Trump. Their platform is simplicity itself – “Whatever Trump wants.”Time to start another party. One that believes in fiscal responsibility, limited government, personal accountability, limited foreign intervention, giving people a hand up and only limited hand outs, lastly in a change from both existing parties, transparency in government.
Nooooooo Carmen, run as a Libertarian. The FEC has 19 people declared for the LP nomination and only one in the top five of fund raising. The LP candidate will be on the ballot in all 50 States plus DC, unless the Demopublican legislatures pull some shenanigans. Draft Carmen for the LP nomination!
In many years of reading “Prickly City,” I think this is the first time it has ever made me laugh out loud! And it may be the first time Stantis ever allowed Winslow to connect with a solid punchline. Go, Winslow!
I was thinking of the phrase Stantis used on the :about" tab: : “We may not be correct but we will always be right.” I know what he wants it to mean, but really, it says that they either cannot or refuse to learn from their mistakes. That is insanity.
Actually, Trump is the intelligent alternative..to the democrats.
He is also better than any conceivable republican candidate excpet perhaps Mike Lee, Rand Paul or Ted Cruz. But they would have a hard time winning a general in the next cycle.

^America has been totally socialist for about 80 years, ever since the New Deal.
It totally destroyed America, especially the middle class. Bank regulations, anti-trust, unions, progressive income tax rates, all of it.
Totally destroyed. Then Medicare destroyed it even more.
.
Thank God that Trump and His Disciples will get rid of all that stuff.

Scott, I eagerly await your editorial cartoons and Prickly City strips pointing to Republican outcry for intelligent alternatives.
Whenever it happens.
I mean, it shouldn’t be too long of a wait, right?

“There could be” but won’t, Carmen.
I expect the GOP to brutally supress anyone who even thinks to challenge trump and splinter the holy Base.

Yes, Carmen, there COULD be an outcry for that. All you have to do is find the alternate universe that that scenario fits, and you’re good to go.
