The concept of “you can’t do anything these days without collaborating with evil” was discussed at length in the TV show “The Good Place”. Funny show and lots to think about.
Yeah it is hard to research but worth it. I did a search for an item this morning and Amazon came up in EVERY one, and even on pages that seemed independent, all products had links to Amazon, It took me 10 searches to finally get a list if products with independent reviews and links. Don’t give up and research the companies!
Actually, I get most of my groceries locally, I avoid Whole Foods like the plague, I don’t listen to ANY podcasts and I get all my books off of “Usenet” – I try very hard to buy ALL my clothing from the manufacturer and I I refuse to buy ANYTHING that is not the absolute BEST quality and / or locally sourced I’ve got garments in my closet that are approaching 40 years old that are still good – the last time I bought a shirt – two years ago – I ordered it from L.L. Bean and paid almost $100 for it – but at 70 years old, I expect it to last longer than I will…
