It’s never taken me more than about two minutes to open one of those. But I stand back from the fruit while I’m opening them so other people don’t have to wait.
Would you believe three minutes? But sometimes I get lucky, they open right away, and aren’t ripped somewhere else so that the fruit falls out when I fill them.
Walmart fruit and veg section impossible to open used to lick my fingers but Covid nixed that, what have you touched and you lick your fingers bad idea. And of course the mask. I Carry a bottle of hand sanitizer a little on the finger tips does the job.
I think people die every day in the produce sections trying to open those bags; most people have a heart attack from anger and frustration. The stores are really good at cleaning the bodies out of there quickly.
Several comments about wetting your finger. Those are usually in the produce aisle and most have those “water mist nozzles” which go off on a regular basis. Just tough your thumb and index finger to one of the wet items – usually lettuce.

Was that before or after the pharmacy gave him those childproof bottles?

Those plastic bags for fruit are just awful to try and open. It often takes me at least a few minutes per bag.

Opening the bags should be an Olympic event.

Try this: wet your index finger and thumb. Then try to slide it open.

Hard to wet your fingers to open a bag with a mask on.

When those first started being used in stores, I figured it was a set-up by Candid Camera.

Where’s his mask? I reach under my mask to lick my fingers. I like the stores that have paper bags.

I ask the produce person to open the plastic bags for me. If available, I use the paper bags for my produce. The plastic rip too easily.
