Man: It's a number sign. Girl: Duh, dad....it's a hashtag. Man: Sigh. Adieu, number sign. I weep for thee. Girl: Let it go, Dad. That ship has sailed.
You know you’re old when you no longer speak Kid.
I’ve always called it a pound sign.

First sentence in Wikipedia about hashtags:
A hashtag is a word or an unspaced phrase prefixed with the number sign (“#”).
This morning, I had corned beef hash for breakfast! I suppose I should have asked the waitress to “tag” it?Eh?
You know, over the years light bulbs have changed in shape, size, contents, methodology, usage, etc. But, they are still “light bulbs”…
It’s a tic-tac-toe grid.
The problem with calling it a pound sign is that on a British keyboard that is something completely different. As for “octothorpe”, I’ve always thought that was just AT&T having a good laugh on the rest of us.
Very similar to a sharp sign.
