Men USED-TO (several Hundred years ago) carry Purses but got out out of the habit as Cut-Purses (AKA Pick-Pockets) got better and better at their jobs. Carrying, and being ready at all times to instantly ready to USE a Sword, became their primary duty and a Servant handled the Money for them.
