I’m sorry, are checks suddenly no longer legal tender? I don’t like online banking. I like knowing what goes in and out of my account, thus keeping a register, like I was taught to do as a teen. I don’t like direct deposit and I don’t like companies withdrawing money from my bank account.
I use cheques for most of my corporate payments. My accountant insists on a paper trail. For personal banking, it is rare for me to write a cheque anymore. Just the occasional donation to organizations which don’t have an online presence, or as has already been suggested, gifts (though I’m using e-transfers and even PayPal more often for the latter).
I do it both ways depending on how I feel at the time. With all of this hacking going on it may be best to write the check and pay postage to mail kit!
I had a credit card sold and their online banking was removed, and had to wait for the new company to mail me information. I had an idea of what I owed, but, now I have paper statements for situations like this so I can mail them a check.
I made my living with tech and because of that I prefer to write checks for my monthly bills. I will not give any company I deal with direct access to debit my bank account. And, no surprise, I refuse to have a debit card as well.
The only direct access I allow is direct deposit. They can credit my account but only I can debit the account, and only with a paper trail.

I pay most of my bills electronically, but some of them still require writing a check.

Your account doesn’t get stolen online this way. They have to do it the old fashioned way; steal it at a store.

I’ve seen this joke in other comic strips.
