When I had a TV hooked up, I would use MUTE more often than not during sportscasts, unless I literally needed an announcer to explain what I was seeing. And if that was the case, WTH was I watching it at all?
TV at the moment consists of short bursts of programming and long bursts of silence while various campaigns defame one another. Oh and if Namath shows up.

I often have recorded the program. I catch myself watching about 30 seconds of a commercial before I remember, “Hey, I’ve got fast forward.”

It’s even better when you turn it off entirely.
