Every summer mom would take me to the local J.C. Penneys to get a new pair of P.F. Flyers – and I got to jump on the Pedoscope to watch my bones wiggle. That’s the only time I was allowed to use it, though, because mom claimed those machines “were dangerous”, though she’d never tell me HOW or WHY they were dangerous. ‘Course, mom was always saying things like that – she even claimed that firecrackers were dangerous when everyone ’knew’ that they were just fun, ‘cept when dumb ole Cecil held a cherry bomb in his hand and lit the fuse and it blew part of his finger off – but that wasn’t ’cause the bomb was dangerous; that because dumb, ole Cecil was stupid!
