What on earth is going on with Red’s hat?!

We and both sets of grand parents had gravel driveways back then. My brothers and me used to knock rocks like this using an old bat. We’d hit them off toward the woods or the cow pastures.

In a recent C&H rerun, Calvin similarly gave up on hitting his own tosses with a bat. He switched to a golf club.

Red is a much better pitcher than hitter.
