Took two of our mutts to the vet yesterday, annuals. On the way out a most amazing thing happened! A woman had her Aussie in the lobby and Harvey DIDN’T go nuts. I think this confirms Sheela being half-Aussie, so the Aussie smelled like his sister and so, not a threat.
Definitely our little dog. If any living creature enters her field of view out the window, they get a severe scolding for daring to approach our home without her permission!
My dog happily goes nose to nose with any new dog (with permission from the other owner). If she sees one through the window peeing in her yard, she just quietly watches – probably also remembers and re-pees the spot later. This morning we met another new dog, and the owner told me she used to have a bagel. “Bassett-Beagle.” That was a new one on me! Her little dog was sweet, and was happy to meet mine. I have never had a dog this quiet and calm. I did get one real bark out of her yesterday. I think I was gone too long as she ran to greet me at the door, stopped halfway, barked a beagle bark, and then came to me. Any sound from her is rare. I figured I was in the dog house, but a treat and a trip outside fixed it all up. She’s just not used to me going out much, as I have stayed in to avoid covid most of the last two years, by choice.
