LOL… Even Rover knows there is a wealth of coins at the bottom of a Wishing Well.

no disrespect to Lassie but if Timmy had a German Shepherd he would have avoided all those dangers.

Our neighbors have an old style well. There is also a sign saying that no one named Timmy is permitted on their property.

Did Timmy really fall down a well in the original story?

All the dogs who played Lassie were actually Laddies.

As several readers have commented, contrary to popular belief, Timmy never fell into an abandoned well.

But he did manage to fall into the following (a partial list): two lakes, a gap between two railroad cars, two abandoned mines, quicksand, and a badger hole. Yes, that kid spent a lot of time falling into things. But he had no problem with abandoned wells.

How disappointing. I was hoping that the actor of Lassie said something less appropriate as an in-joke.
