Had sex education been introduced in school curriculums at the time this strip takes place?

Oh no no no no no. They must be thinking about Rover going to eternal farm in the far far future.

The actual lifespan of dogs. Yeah, it may be a hard pill to swallow, but this conversation is really better had sooner than later.

It hurts to think about life without Rover.

Creativity & dreams are the wonders of childhood. If you can dream it, you can achieve it!

A very hard conversation for sure. Wonder if they will tell Red with Rover by his side?

That they don’t let dogs become astronauts!?

And mom and dad – just let Red believe for now! He’ll know as he gets older! Loss is hard! I know because the older you get, the more you lose.

There was strip where Rover told Red he was sad he’d have to wait so long in heaven to be reunited with Red . . . I’m not sure I’m saying this correctly, but our dogs have us for their entire lives but we only have them for a little while in the space of our own lifespan. I treasure each day I have with Newton, as I did with my other two dog sons.

Now I get why someone in NASA decided to name it the Mars Rover…

Red’s too happy, we need to tell him Rover is going to die.

Don’t break his heart by telling him Rover won’t live that long. Let Red enjoy his childhood friend.
