In-sur-ance- noun- A policy or thing that provides protection against possible calamity, injury, accidents, explosions, and occasionally falling off cliffs, in a car…
So if everything is in Doug’s name (property, etc.) and Millie is his wife/widow – wouldn’t she need to prove he’s dead in order to inherit? And if they can’t find his body, wouldn’t she have to wait possibly seven years to have him declared legally dead in order to have all the assets transferred into her name alone? And I’m sure life insurance policies won’t pay out without a death certificate to prove when the person died. Just wondering.

If no one knows you’re responsible then you can get by without insurance. I quit paying for insurance 25 years ago and haven’t regretted it once.
