Elections were originally scheduled in November so they wouldn’t interrupt the harvest.

People who can’t be bothered to vote also couldn’t be bothered to research what is being voted on. Do we really want them voting anyway?

Popular vote only doesn’t fairly represent the middle of the country where the population is lower. Politicians would only focus on New York, California and ignore the middle of the country. This way each state has a say in how our leaders are elected and when you think about it is much fairer than having populations on the east and west coasts controlling who we elect.

I want to know when we are going to get to vote for a decent, honest, person who will truly be of the people, for the people, and by the people. Not one who has the most money, sells themself to the highest number of special interest groups, or is picked by the Bilderburg Group.

Jesus and Emanuel, born in Belem? I see what they did there.

Debbie hit the reason for the Electoral College right on the head. There’s no reason on election day not to have the polls open for 24 hours so that working people can go when they get done for the day.Of course with early voting in many places there’s really no excuse for everyone who is able not to exercise their privilege.

Electoral reform might make some difference, but every system has advantages and disadvantages. Canada has a parlimentary system, most elections in the provinces and nationally are held at the whim of the governing party, or in the case of a minority situation if the government loses a vote of confidance. This does give an advantage to the party in power, but limits the amount of time spent on elections.

Why are you asking me to justify the Electoral College? Why don’t you explain it instead of expecting someone else to do it?

Back before absentee ballots, and when voting was done by those in the area, and there was a large military base in the area, the politicians would campaign at the military bases! Hardly a fair system.

Why can’t we have an election where candidates are voted by qualifications instead of how much money they can raise. Check out how much has been raised for just the primaries and good other uses it could have been put to.l

While we’re on the subject, could we PLEASE pass a law banning ALL political advertising? (Especially television and road signs!!)By the way, if those little guys had a third head they could be “The Knights Who Say ‘Ni!’”

Pass the law where you can vote by mail…..it’s truly “the only way to go”…

Jesus represents the human nature, and Emmanuel represents the divine nature. The analogy is not perfect, of course, but it represents or expresses the two natures in the one person of the Lord Jesus Christ..

On a lighter note, maybe the ‘bamboo shoots’ the animal and then the panda eats it.

I believe panda bears eat meat. They’re related to raccoons. Pandas probably eat fish and clams just like their cousins. I hope something can be done to help Jesus and Emanuel lead normal lives.

If you are going to turn everything but the overpopulated coastal states into an unrepresented “Flyoverville”, can we Flyoverville residents secede and form a country where our votes do count?

The founding fathers recognized that small states needed a little more leverage to keep the big states from completely dominating them. BTW, Texas’ population has surpassed New York’s by 6 million, and Florida’s has almost tied it.
