    On science t.v. programs, I’ve seen that type of truck. They were being used to get an idea of underground formations. The waves would bounce off and be refracted by the various layers, and be picked up an array of microphones. A computer would then process the data, and create a map of underground strata. Experts would then evaluate the possibilty of finding oil there.

    Then, I saw smaller versions of that truck on city streets.

    Back in the 40’s my dad was catching catfish in the creek bigger than I was at the time. Most of the big ones are now gone.
