Ta-dah! Here's the beef?! Dr. Mark Post of Maastricht University has grown a hamburger in a laboratory from only a single beef cell- at a cost of $325,000! Criminal Minds Scientists in New Mexico have found that brain scans of released prisoners can identify those who will reoffend! Until the early 20th century, it was fashionable for Japanese married women to blacken their teeth with a paste made from iron filings and tea soaked in acid!

That Japanese tradition doesn’t really surprise me. The idea behind traditions is that they show the best candidates for marriage. The stronger wolf gets to be alpha because he can better protect the pack. In this case, dying your teeth was something you needed to do regularly, which showed you have the free time to do so.

Got to wonder… who was the first married woman to come up with the notion to blacken her teeth, go out in public, and become a fashion icon.

The black teeth thing isn’t as bad as foot binding. At one time Chinese parents would bind the feet of their daughters because small feet were considered beautiful. Whole generations of Chinese women were crippled to the point they could barely walk.
