Found a couple of articles on that teacher. Absenteeism is apparently a big problem over there.

A book was written about Mehran Nasseri. And the book inspired a movie staring Tom Hanks.

Nasseri is stateless; I’m sure he’s happy never to return to Iran. If he didn’t know French before arriving at the airport terminal, he most likely learned it fluently while living at the terminal. And living in a charitable shelter today; hopefully, he’s developed close relationships with the right French authorities/ other people in France so that he can be buried there (he’s almost in his mid-seventies).
