1916 1917 1918 The town of Codell, Kansas, was hit by a tornado on the same date, May 20, for three consecutive years! In 2015, Tama, the stationmaster cat of the Kishi train station in Japan since 2007, was enshrined as a goddess after her death. In colonial era America, prisoners were fed lobster!

AND then there are the cats who think they’re goddesses (or gods) while they’re still alive!
They’re right, of course!

Lobster was originally considered junk food only fit for the poor. Skirtsteak was the same when I was growing up , now super expensive

According to Mother Jones, in the 1850s lobster salad was cheaper in restaurants than chicken salad, and 3-6 pound lobsters were common.

The worst part of feeding it to the prisoners is they didn’t give them a nut-cracker to open the claws.

When I was in Nova Scotia a few years back, our tour guide said that during the Depression lobster was so plentiful that often poor kids took lobster sandwiches to school and more affluent students got bologna. And I read about Orange County, Ca. during that same time period and a lady said basically the same thing. She said that her father just had to pick them off the rocks. So maybe the prisoners were just getting what was then a cheap meal.

Mmmmmmm, there’s nothing like Maine lobster! I don’t like the lobster in California or Mexico.
